Peatland Restoration Atlas

Nature-based solutions for restoring open wetlands to support biodiversity, improve water quality, and mitigate climate change.

The Project Introduction

"Nature-based solutions in open wetlands restoration for biodiversity, water quality improvement and climate mitigation" (1.10.2024 – 30.09.2025)

The project promotes knowledge exchange on wetland restoration among partners from Poland, Finland, and Ukraine. With secured funding, it will advocate for peatland restoration using OTOP’s Hands-on Manual on Re-wetting, organize study visits to Polish restoration sites, and support advocacy efforts in Poland and Ukraine. Special attention is given to border wetlands in Ukraine due to the ongoing conflict. The initiative will strengthen expert networks and promote Nordic-inspired nature-based solutions for peatland conservation, water retention, and water quality improvement across all three countries.
